Description
Dangal Doiom (Dugong Stone)
Before setting out on a hunt, men would rub dugong oil on the stone (doiom) to give them zogo (power) and good luck for the hunt. Instead of looking for the dangal (dugong), the dangal would come to them. The stone was always tied at the front of the canoe during the hunt.
Waru Doiom (Turtle Stone)
Before setting out on a hunt, men would rub turtle oil on the stone (doiom) to give them zogo (power) and good luck for the hunt. Instead of looking for the waru (turtle), the waru would come to them. The stone remained on the island and was never moved otherwise there would be no turtles caught. Wherever the turtle stone faced, that was the direction where the turtles were.
Please note: All of Glen’s prints are individually hand-made so there will be slight variations between them
