Traditionally, bicornual baskets were made by Kuku Yalanji women using lawyer cane and twine made from bark. The younger women usually collected the materials, while the older more experienced women made the baskets, teaching the younger ones while they did so. Once completed, the basket was carried by sitting the strap or rope around the forehead, and the body of the basket sat on their back.
