Description
The Kurup, which has a distinct shape and appearance has always been one of my favourite fish. Its intriguing and unmistakable silhouette along with its contrast of patterns and colours make it easy to identify and admire. The Kurup has become an endangered species due to fishing, habitat loss and degradation. This print is a simple depiction of the Kurup and the story my father told me of a spear fishing trip, where he caught a large Kurup and was followed by a shark. To deter the shark from pursuing him he handed the large fish over to the shark.
