Description
The Oenpelli python is a rare snake only known to be found in the rocky escarpment surrounding the Oenpelli area near Kakadu National Park, in the Northern Territory, Australia. The people of Oenpelli (also known as Gunbalanya, spoken language is Kunwinkju) know that if they come across the rare python ‘Nawaran’ they can be given to rangers or scientists to study and breed. Recently I was privileged to come across a Nawaran while out walking.
