Description
Sulwul covers the entire region from the Western to the Eastern Islands or Zenadh-Kes. This is usually in September. Often during mating season Baidam (Tiger Sharks) will swim under the mating turtles as this is one of their primary food sources. There is also often other male Waru (turtles) swimming nearby waiting for their chance to mate with the female. The two men in the canoe are hunting in the traditional way using a Gapu (sucker fish) as bait. This is a traditional way of hunting the Waru. This hunting technique has been used for generations by the Island forefathers. Such knowledge is passed down orally by the Island elders.
