Description
I meet artists from different countries living in Cairns. A young woman from India showed me how she uses ‘henna’ to make designs on different parts of her friends’ bodies. I think this is much more sensible than getting tattooed for life. Temporary designs are better because they wear off and can be changed often. The idea is consistent with the way my family used to paint ochres on their bodies for ceremony.
I like the medium of drypoint because it is very direct, I don’t need any chemicals and can work at home on my kitchen table while looking after my grandson.
