Description

Saper is a Meriam word for bat. They live in abundance throughout the Torres Strait and North Queensland playing a vital role in the ecosystem. Saper eat pollen, nectar and fruits, pollinating and dispersing native tree seeds. Along with being edible, some Torres Strait islanders believe that saper flesh can help cure asthma. The campsites of saper remind us that we are not the only cultivators of the land.
