Description

Mackerel are found in abundance throughout the Torres Strait due to the tropical weather. Along with being a food source for Torres Strait Islander people it is also caught and sold in the commercial fishing industry providing jobs and economic sustainability. This print is inspired by the way the mackerel are able to manoeuvre through the water, swimming in small schools as they work together to catch smaller fish like sardines and heron.
