Description
Gelam was a great hunter, carver and traveller. Upon discovering his mother’s trickery, the tormented youth decided to leave the island. He carved a large wooden dugong, enabling him to travel in the sea over great distances. After a final confrontation with his mother, Gelam dove into the ocean and left behind all that he ever knew. Gelam ventured forth into the great unknown. This journey is Gelam’s rite of passage. Becoming a master of his own destiny he has changed from boy to man.
